Helping authors navigate the writing process makes my heart sing.

Your success is my reward!

Istarted my career in editing and writing unexpectedly after attending my first writer’s conference in 2012. I met Kathy Ide, the founder of The Christian PEN (a network of Christian editors), and she encouraged me to consider editing as a way to work on my writing and help other aspiring authors. After working with a couple of writers at various stages of their writing process, I decided this was a career well suited for me. I help writers get their heart messages out to the world, plus work with some really amazing people. It really does make my heart sing—I guess this is what I’m supposed to be doing! Weird, I know…

Now, after nine years of working with many authors, nonprofits, and business professionals, I see how good writers and good editing makes a giant difference. I consider it an honor to help make the ideas of these amazing, passionate people come alive on paper for their readers. We walk side-by-side, over months and sometimes years, as I challenge and push them further to take their book or project to another level. And I do my best to be an encourager and cheerleader every step of the way. I also mentor new authors to help them get their projects to the point where they need an editor. And once the work is done, I can then help them get it ready for submission to publishers or agents or self-publish, whatever is their goal. I’m here to help you.

My master’s degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Western Seminary allows me to assist the Christian author and pastors with a higher level of biblical expertise and insight. I believe this is what sets me apart from many other editors.

Every editor has a specialty. Mine is developmental editing, line editing, and copyediting, having successfully passed the rigorous editing tests offered by The Christian PEN, Lexham Press, and Redemption Press. I’m a Gold Member of the Christian Editor’s Network, meaning I have been vetted by other professional editors and approved for service. I offer a well-rounded experience in these areas:

  • All levels of editing for nonfiction manuscripts
  • Author coaching and critiquing
  • Writer’s conference prep
  • Book proposal and query letter review
  • Self-publishing consulting and production services
  • Website & blog copy
  • Marketing materials & collateral

I am the general editor for PTLB Publishing, based in Northern California. I work with PTLB’s consultants, editing, co-writing, and managing publishing projects. We partner with Christian authors and discipleship thought-leaders to propel their messages of wisdom, insight, and instruction out to the world. We work side-by-side with each author through the entire publishing process, from writing and editing assistance, to book formatting, cover design, book printing, and distribution in digital and print formats, and marketing/promotion. For more information visit www.ptlb.com.

I am a writer myself.

I also love to write and I’ve co-authored a book on marriage, authored a Bible study on marriage, co-authored a small group guide, authored workshop material on marriage and finding balance, and collaborated on numerous writing projects for clients, such as Gil Stieglitz of Principles to Live By, Bamboo Creative (Thrive), Dan Chrystal (Sophos Group), J.D. Daley, and Jenny Williamson (Courage Worldwide). In my advertising agency days, I wrote press releases and marketing plans, training manuals, and business materials for nonprofits. I have blogged as well.
